If I have to look at dust for one more day, I am going to SCREAM! In October, I thought it would be a great idea to put an addition upstairs. It now almost March and I'm STILL looking at dust. Granted, we are adding some much needed space, and it will be awesome to have another bathroom, I just wish it would be done already. I swear, there is dust in every nook and cranny of my house - I dust once a day and it's still EVERYWHERE! I even found dust in the utensil drawer. Geez. Today, I got motivated to go up there and put some paint on the walls - I got one room done before Baby E woke up from his nap. Only 4 more rooms to go......

In other news, Ethan has started to "talk" all the time. He is constantly trying out his voice - says dadadadada and lalalalalala and a combination of both. He also has figured out a way to grunt and scream when he's happy. It's pretty funny. Today he was in his Johnny Jump-up for about 25 minutes just talking and bouncing. I just sat at the kitchen table and watched him. I never knew I could love another human being as much as I love him. He's gotten in the habit of opening his mouth really wide and grabbing my face and "kissing" me. It's more like just putting his open mouth on my cheek or trying to suck on my chin. It sounds gross, but it's SO cute. He's such a good-natured little guy, and we are having a great time watching him learn and grow. He also has a favorite movie - I can sit him in front of the TV and put on his Baby Einstein "water" movie and it gives me about 40 minutes of free time to do some random stuff around the house.

Little guy fell asleep in the car on the way home from dinner tonight - wish I could have done the same!

Nap Time

I love naptime. It is amazing how much I can get done in the 2 hours that Baby E sleeps. For instance, today I did 2 loads of laundry (which, by the way, is about 1/8 of what needed to be done), I made the bed, I did the dishes, I took a shower and I went online to buy Jimmy Buffet tickets for my husband. That's right. Jimmy Buffet. Big J's favorite musician.

Since Big J and I met, we have gone to the Buffet concert every year (well, last year I didn't go due to Baby E being only 2 weeks old). The first couple of years it was just a few friends and a little tailgating.....you know, grill some steaks, drink some beer, walk 1/2 mile to the nearest port-a-potty where you wait in line for an hour. After about the 3rd year, we started doing it up right. Invested in a generator (to make the best margaritas), bought a tent and some decorations, spent the money on a "premium parking pass", and made a weekend out of it. This year, I'm going to figure out a way to make my own bathroom. Maybe we should rent an RV.

So anyway, that took about 45 minutes out of my morning, and guess what?!?! Baby E is still sleeping. I just don't know what to do with myself now. Maybe I'll go take some photos of the snow covered trees in our yard before the wind blows off all the snow. Then again, maybe I'll just go lie down for a while. It's been a crazy couple of days and I'm pooped.

Shopping With Nana

Today Baby E discovered the joys of shopping with his Nana. He found lots of cute clothes and some toys and put them in my shopping cart. When we got to the checkout, Nana said "just put those in with my stuff, I'll buy them!" Ethan was SOOOOO happy. Now he knows how his cousins' have felt since THEY were born.

On a separate note, my niece Julia came over to our house on Wednesday morning. She was pretty obsessed with trying to find the cat (who did NOT want to be found). I decided to distract her with lunch. PB & J with the crust cut off. She then said (and this is a quote) "Mimi, do you have any chipssssssssss?"
Me: what kind of chips?
Julia:"the orange ones".
Me: I don't have any orange ones, but I have regular chips.
Julia:"Regular chipsssssss?"
Me: yep
Julia: I'll try them
Me: here you go (I put some on her plate)
Julia: OOOOhhhhhh, these chipsssssss, hey, where's the cat?

So after lunch, I gave her a scoop of chocolate ice cream. She spilled a little on the table. No big deal - it's a glass top. She looked at me and said, " I spilled some, but if I put my bowl over it and rub it around, you can't see it anymore, Hey, where's your cat?"
OKAY. Guess I don't need to clean it up then.

Baby E is sleeping, time for me to do the same.

P.S. If you are following my mom's blog, I'm going to show her how to post pictures....stay tuned.

Up All Night

I've been told (by a very reputable source) That pictures make the blog followers happy. So I'm going to post some pix of my very adorable baby boy and my baby-daddy (who is also my husband). Maybe, if you're REAL lucky, I'll find a photo of me and stick it up. We'll see.

The Baby E is a sick little monster. He had us up most of the night with his coughing/gagging/crying combination. It went a little like this

raspy, throat cough that sounds like there is a truck in his chest followed by gagging on whatever substance the cough produced in his mouth, followed by waking up and crying because he's been startled followed by about 10 minutes of talking himself back to sleep. Then sleep for about 45-50 minutes. And repeat.

I'm hoping for a nice long nap this afternoon. For him. and me.

Then I should be able to....right?

Ok, so my mom started a blog last week, and I thought, "Hey, how hard can this be?". Turns out, not hard at all. In fact, I probably should have done this before. So, this is for all of you out there who miss us. By us, I mean me. and baby E. alright, and Big J too.

It's gonna bore a lot of you, but for those who want to know what we are up to, well, YOU are going to LOVE this!

So, here's the news. Baby E is SEVEN months old today! I can't believe the little peanut it sitting up and eating already. He woke up yesterday with a pretty nasty cough/runny nose. Being the 1st time mom that I am, of COURSE I called the doctor's office to tell them all about his green snot and crabby attitude and of course the myriad of wonderful colors that were in his diaper this weekend. Do you know what the nurse said to me? DO YOU? She said "it's probably just a cold, but you can bring him in at 1 if you think it's more serious." Guess where I was at 1? Smack-dab in the middle of his regularly scheduled program (nap-time that is). That nurse was NOT happy to see mister crabby pants, with the green snot and the yummy diaper treat. And guess what? No, really, go ahead and guess. He only has a cold. HAHAHAHAHAHA. I'm such a hypochondriac. Oh well. At least I now KNOW that I will not be sleeping well for the next few nights and there is nothing that can be done for the poor little monster.

Also, he tried blueberries for dinner tonight. Can't WAIT to see what that produces in the morning.
